Colfax County Health Council to Meet on November 12th

We will have our Colfax County Health Council Meeting on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, from 12:00 noon – 1:30 pm. K-Bobs of Raton will provide food. This meeting will be held in person and virtually, so feel free to join from wherever you are.

MINUTES

I. Call to order
This meeting was called to order by Sally Hoger at Hammer Forged. Sally acknowledged that there were no minutes to approve.
II. Introductions: In attendance were Candida Griego (HC Coordinator), Elizabeth Ortega (HCHK), Valentina White (DOH), Kristin Trujillo (YES), Sierra Encinias
(YES), Daniel Griego (Raton Hunger Pantry), Lenore Barfield, Angela Fleming (DOH), Jeremiah Trujillo (JPO), Sally Hoger, Paul Jenkins (RatonCDC), Kelly Jones
(JPO), Danielle Archuleta, Stephanie Gonzales, Megan Swanson, Misty Gomez, DJ Sandoval, Amy Hronich, Jeremy Espinoza, Ambrosia Trujillo, Elizabeth
Tafoya.
III. No updates from Attendees. Candida Griego, HC Coordinator, identified FY26 priorities as (1) Suicide prevention and (2) Harm Reduction. Hopes to implement
in high schools in Maxwell, Springer, Cimarron, and Raton.
IV. DOH – Elizabeth Tafoya gave a brief overview of BHRA and how the two priorities fit in, then turned the meeting over to Valentina White for discussion of different
suicide prevention programs and Narcan implementation.
V. Valentina identified several possible suicide prevention programs and what harm reduction covers.
VI. Attendees discussed ideas of how these programs can be implemented in schools.
VII. Health Council stated that the Brunch will be a workshop format focusing on maternal health due to low birth weights and low early prenatal care.
VIII. Meeting Adjourned.
