City Engineer, Jaden Welch speaks at Raton Rotary Club

Posted May 14, 2025. At the regular Tuesday noon Rotary Meeting, May 13, 2025, Jaden Welch, City Engineer, who moved to Raton a couple of years ago from Oregon, provided insights into the many projects requiring his skills.

Welch spoke about the government funding, in the millions, some of which have been lost due to governmental cutbacks and errors, for asbestos abatement, demolition of properties, and code enforcement. A robust question and answer period, normally a short ten minutes, took nearly a full half-hour.

Prior to the meeting, Jari Thymian, President of Raton Rotary showed a metal sign that had been presented to K-Bob’s by Raton School shop class to thank the restaurant for paying for the senior picture banners that are hung throughout downtown on the light poles.

The public is invited to attend the Raton Rotary Meetings that are held every Tuesday at noon at K-Bob’s Restaurant, 1228 S. 2nd Street.
