Some people expressed interest in “talking politics” a few months ago. They were concerned about national policies and how they may affect our local community. Individual conversations included discussions of fears, anxieties, personal safety, and other topics. It was emphasized that this is a non-partisan group. The primary purpose is for face-to-face conversation to help build community, develop shared understanding, and promote mutual aid.
The group has been renamed to Civil Discourse Group. This is to help others understand its primary focus. There is no specific agenda, meeting minutes, etc.! The group determines its course.
The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Casa Lemus Inn & Restaurant, 350 Clayton Road, Raton. Those planning to have lunch meet at 12:30 p.m. The discussion begins at 1:00 p.m.
