Warning: There will probably be some spoilers in this article for Pokémon Legends Z-A, so if you don’t want to spoil anything, I wouldn’t suggest reading this quite yet.
Pokémon Legends Z-A is now officially out, so I thought, as a special treat, I would do a recipe inspired by the starter that I’m going to choose for the game, Chikorita! Chikorita is originally from Generation 2, which includes Jhoto, the grass-type starter. In Z-A, the other two starters are Tepig, the fire type from Generation Five, and Totodile, the water type from Generation Two.
At this point, I haven’t gotten to playing this game yet, but I am hoping I will get to it very soon. From what I have seen so far, the game seems incredible and looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun. The game takes place five years after the X and Y games. It features multiple characters from those games, including Emma, who is now the detective in Lumiose City and a former Team Flare grunt, now the Pokémon Professor. The game also offers more customization options, such as headphones for the first time in the series and multicolored hair! Both of which just make me so happy and so excited. The designs for the Megas are also super cool, and I think my favorite might be Dragonite so far, but I’m not sure because they’re all very cool.
For this week’s article, I got the base for the recipe from the “Pokémon Café Remix” game and used the picture as a reference. However, these might not be exactly the same as the café ones because it’s always a bit hard to tell with game food. I actually don’t have this recipe in the game yet because I started playing this game before it was added in. I have a few more recipes from this game lined up for the next few months, and I am super excited to do them. The one I’m probably looking forward to the most would be the Rowlet pizza right before Christmas.
For me, this recipe was pretty easy to put together and was pretty good considering I didn’t really have much to go off of. Personally, the meat wasn’t my favorite, but that could also just be because I don’t eat meat a ton. If you want the Chikorita one to be a bit more like the picture and be greener, you could probably grind up the pistachio smoother or add a little bit of food coloring, which would also work.
I hope you enjoy this recipe, and if you didn’t end up playing Z-A I really hope you have a fun time with that and your journey to Lumiose City! Enjoy!
Ingredients:
- Bread (Sourdough is very good for this)
- 1/2 cup cooked pasta (I used shells)
- 1/3 cup chopped pistachios plus some whole pistachios for topping
- 4 oz Cream cheese, add more if needed
- 1 tomato cut into small pieces
- Mozzarella
- Pepper
- Fresh basil leaves
- Prosciutto
- Candied citrus peel
Chikorita Instructions:
- Whip the cream cheese for a minute before adding in the chopped pistachios and mixing together.
- Spread this mixture over a few of your slices of bread, making a bump in the middle.
- Add on top a single bay leaf and add six pistachios equally spaced around the edges.
Bay Leaf Instructions:
- Take some of your mozzarella and place it onto your bread. Sprinkle with pepper and top with a bay leaf and pasta.
Meganium (grass-type Pokémon) Instructions:
- Take some of the cut-up tomatoes and mozzarella and layer them on the bread in a pile. Sprinkle pepper on top to taste and salt if you would like.
- Arrange the meat in a semi-flower shape on top, and for the final touch, add two pieces of candied citrus peel.
