New grant to strengthen New Mexico’s creative economy

SANTA FE — Organizations that support creative industries across New Mexico now have access to new grant funding of up to $62,500 designed to strengthen the state’s growing creative economy.

The new Creative Support Organization Grant, offered through the New Mexico Economic Development Department’s Creative Industries Division (CID), targets organizations that serve as anchors for the creative sector by providing technical assistance, business incubation, workforce development, ecosystem and network building, and strategies to expand creative industry opportunities.

Nations, Tribes, Pueblos, nonprofits, and for-profit organizations with at least three years of demonstrated work supporting creative companies, entrepreneurs, or workers are eligible to apply.

“Creative industries are a vital part of New Mexico’s economy and cultural identity,” said Shani Harvie, director of the Creative Industries Division. “This grant program invests in organizations that have been providing the structure, support, and innovation needed to ensure our creative economy thrives statewide.”

CID will host a webinar on Friday, Oct. 3, at 10 a.m. MT to review grant requirements, eligibility, and goals. A recording will be posted on the EDD YouTube page for later viewing.

Eligible applicants must demonstrate a strong track record of programs, services, or initiatives in one or more creative industry clusters:

  • Performing, visual, and literary arts
  • Entertainment, media, and broadcasting
  • Applied arts and design (architecture, landscape architecture, and museum and gallery professionals)
  • Promotion, marketing, graphics, and industrial design
  • Technology and computer system design, software design, coding, and digital media
  • Crafts and artisan professions (metal, wood, glass, ceramics, paper, printing, textile, and culinary arts)

Applications are open until Oct. 24, 2025, at 6 p.m. MT. Register for the webinar and apply for the grant at edd.newmexico.gov/business-development/cid-grants.
