Corporal Matt Ordonez was recognized by NM Department of GF, Raton Fire Rescue, and Raton Police Department for his life-saving actions while off duty.
On Wednesday, August 7th , 2024, Raton EMS and Police Department responded to an unconscious male lying near the intersection of S. 2nd Street and NM Highway 555 in Raton, NM. Corporal Ordonez was off duty and in the area when he observed an unconscious male lying on the sidewalk. Due to his swift actions as a first responder and his willingness to apply his training and experience, Corporal M. Ordonez provided immediate medical attention by conducting multiple rounds of CPR. The quick thinking and selfless actions by Corporal Ordonez and other first responders have resulted in this individual being alive and is now recovering under medical care.
