Raton Rotary Club’s December Program Schedule

The Raton Rotary Club welcomes guests every Tuesday from Noon to 1:00 p.m. at K-Bobs Steakhouse, 1228 S 2nd Street in Raton (except that will be having a community potluck on December 16th at the Aquatic Center). Lunch is $8.50 plus tip for those who attend. We are a service organization with no political or religious affiliations.

Tuesday, December 2
Guest: Stephen Aranda — Street Lighting, Light Pollution, and Downtown Aesthetic Integrity
Stephen Aranda, founder of Raton Watchman, will break down why street-lighting decisions matter more than most people think. Expect a sharp look at light-pollution impacts, how fixture choices shape the visual life of downtown, and what a coherent lighting plan could do for safety, mood, and long-term economic appeal. Anyone interested in infrastructure, design, or the future of Raton’s streetscape will want to tune in for this one.
Tuesday, December 9
Guest: Patricia Duran — Center for Community Innovation
Patricia Duran will walk us through the Center for Community Innovation’s work and why it’s become a backbone organization for local collaboration. She brings a rare multi-angle perspective: her work with Mesa Church, her role inside the CCI, and her partnerships with city and nonprofit stakeholders. If you want a grounded sense of how community development actually happens here — not the buzzwords, the real mechanics — this is the meeting to attend.
Tuesday, December 16
Community Potluck at the Raton Regional Aquatic Center (Public Welcome)
Food, conversation, and zero pretense. This annual potluck is a chance to meet Rotary members, learn what we’re tackling in the coming year, and see where our visions for the city overlap. If you’ve been Rotary-curious, or you’re simply community-minded and want to meet some neighbors, this is the moment to take that dive.
