Higher Education Day

SANTA FE – The New Mexico Higher Education Department welcomes students, families and members of the public to attend Higher Education Day at the State Capitol on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Over 24 New Mexico colleges, universities and other education partners will share information with visitors on degree and certificate programs, scholarships and more.

“During Higher Education Day at the Roundhouse, we will celebrate the extraordinary achievements and growth within New Mexico’s educational landscape at our colleges and universities. This past year, over 40,000 New Mexicans benefitted from the Opportunity and Lottery scholarships,” said Higher Education Secretary Stephanie M. Rodriguez. “We will also be welcoming high school students from across the state to the Capitol to learn more about going to college right here in New Mexico.”

The event will feature two performances by New Mexico State University’s Mariachi Orgullo and Ballet Folklorico – an ensemble that combines the state’s culture and music with a performance titled ‘Pride of New Mexico’.

Dignitaries from both the Executive and Legislative branches have been invited to provide remarks supporting New Mexico’s landmark investments in higher education. The day will also include a panel discussing the work accomplished by the department over the past 20 years, recognition of New Mexico scholarship programs and college and career readiness programs, a presentation on New Mexico’s College Basic Needs Project, and recognition of Phi Theta Kappa community college honors students.
