Press Release-VMDC Accreditation

On August 1, 2024, Colfax County Vigil-Maldonado Detention Center (VMDC) Warden, Regina
Slade received official notification and congratulations on receiving accreditation by the New
Mexico Adult Detention Professional Standards Council.

Warden Slade and her staff worked hard to meet the Professional Standards required to
achieve accreditation.

In July of 2022 Warden Slade was promoted to Warden. Colfax County Manager, Monte Gore
mandated that the new warden would get the jail accredited. This process took two years to
accomplish. Vigil-Maldonado Detention Center is the first smaller jail to achieve full
accreditation with the New Mexico Adult Detention Professional Standards Council.

Warden Slade said this was a difficult process, however she has a sense of accomplishment.
Warden Slade also acknowledges previous Wardens for their hard work and moving things
forward. Warden Slade appreciates Colfax County Leadership and the County Attorney for their
help and support in getting the facility accredited.

This is an outstanding achievement for Colfax County to receive this prestigious recognition.
