On Monday, September 2nd, a truck was reported stolen from Arthur Rolloff, Inc. and a post was made to Facebook asking the community to keep an eye out for it.
An eyewitness spoke to The Ratonian today and said he noticed a truck in the alley of the 600 block of North 2nd Street at around 1:00 PM on September 3rd but didn’t think anything of it. It wasn’t until he saw the Facebook post at about 3:30 PM that he realized it was Arthur Rolloff’s truck and contacted them via phone. They informed him the police had been notified and were on the way.
The suspects had been seen attempting to cover the truck with a truck cover and once on scene, RPD removed a male from a red Toyota Tacoma and placed him into custody. They would not release his name to the witness.
The rims and tires on the red Toyota Tacoma appear identical to those on a truck belonging to Claudio Saenz, Jr. whose work truck (also a Toyota Tacoma) and trailer were stolen between August 4-5, 2024 from Lincoln Street in Raton. The Ratonian spoke with Mr. Saenz today and he confirmed his truck and trailer were recovered. There was significant damage to the trailer, but it is still usable.
