UPDATED (Student Release Info): Raton Schools LOCKDOWN

Raton Schools Lockdown


At approximately 12:55pm today, the Colfax County Sheriff’s Department issued an advisory that all Raton schools are on lockdown.

Superintendent Kristie Medina confirmed the lockdown and assured parents all students are safe and an investigation is ongoing.

We will update the status of the lockdown as we receive more information.

UPDATES:

  • At 4:17 PM, CCSO released the following:

    RATON HIGHSCHOOL REINTEGRATION IN PROGRESS
    Parents, guardians, this is the route for the pick up of children from Raton high school. The main entrance is the entry point and pick up will be at the gym. When you exit from letton you can either go west towards country club or north on south 5th. Please follow this route and please be aware we will only be allowing 15 to 20 cars at a time to enter the school so please be patient. We will move this along as fast as we can thank you for your patience.
LOCKDOWN Release RHS
  • At 4:01 PM, Superintendent Kristie Medina released the following:

    “Families,

    Thank you for your patience as we ensure your children are safe. We will begin to release high school. Please follow the below procedure to be reunified with your high school child.

    1. Please come to the high school gym.
    2. Please have with you an ID. Students will only be released to you if you have an ID and you’re on the list to pick up your child.
    3. Please be patient during this process.
    4 If your child needs transportation, we will send them on their normal bus route.”
  • At 3:07 PM, Joleene Starr released the following:

    “Longfellow and Intermediate School students will be released now. In order to be reunified with your child, please present an ID. We will not release any child without an ID and you being listed as an emergency contact list or as parent/guardian.

    There will be NO students walking home.
