We’ve learned a good number of people are unaware of the existence of Raton’s transfer station for solid waste. Located on Hereford Avenue, just over the bridge and before the Raton Humane Society, the Hereford Collection Center is nothing short of impressive; not something you’d expect to find in a small city like Raton.
The Ratonian will be running an exclusive series about this “diamond in the rough”, tucked away from view but full of surprises for our community. We’ll break down every aspect of the facility and share everything you need to know about dealing with your solid waste, but for now we wanted to let you know where it is and when it’s accessible. When planning your visit, keep in mind this center is for the use of residents within the city limits only. Please use the lower entrance and stop at Administrative Office (small building) before proceeding through; they will come out to your vehicle to check you in.
